Video DVD/ audio CD playback is choppy

January 2017

If the audio or video from a DVD video or CD audio stutters during playback, it could be that your DVD player isn't well configured.

To remedy this, follow these steps:
  • "Start" menu, then "Run"
  • Type "devmgmt.msc"
  • Go to the ATA / ATAPI controller
  • Go on "Primary IDE Channel" or the "secondary IDE channel" depending on how your drive is installed.

Then go into advanced settings and check that the Transfer mode set to "DMA if available" and not in "PIO only ".
Then restart the computer

Ultimately you can uninstall the controller and restart your PC!
