System requirements for Sims 3

Sims Studio's Sims 3 is a strategic computer game, but the game may not run sometimes and show an error message. This happens if the configuration of the system and the graphics card remain incompatible with the game. The system must have certain settings to run the game effectively. Depending on the kind of system used i.e. PC or MAC , the requirements can be determined, and it is best to know these system requirements before investing in the Sims 3 game. Installation of the latest patch is also essential to get rid of the bugs.

System requirements for Sims 3




If you are unable to run Sims 3, it may be due to the fact that the configuration of your PC isn't powerful enough or that your graphic card isn't compatible with the game:
Unable to start the game. Device 0 can not run this title.
Your video card does not seem to handle  Shader Model version 2 or later. Please update your card. 

Below are the best settings to run this game:

System Requirements for MAC

  • Mac OS X v10.5.7
  • Intel Core Duo
  • 2 GB of RAM
  • 6.1 GB of free disk space minimum (with at least 1 GB additional space for personalized content and registration of parties)
  • 128 MB of video RAM
  • ATI X1600 or Nvidia 7300 GT or Intel Integrated GMA X3100


Graphics cards
  • NVIDIA GeForce 7300 series, 7600, 8600, 8800, 9400M, 9600M GT, GT 120, GT 130
  • ATI Radeon X1600 series, X1900, 2400, 2600, 3870, 4850, 4870, Intel ® Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) GMA series 3.


Note: This game will not work on systems using PowerPC (G3/G4/G5) or Intel Integrated GMA cards 950.

The system requirements for PC

  • Windows XP SP2 / Vista SP1
  • 2.4 GHz P4 processor or equivalent
  • 1.5 GB of RAM
  • 6.1 GB of free disk space minimum (with at least 1 GB additional space for personalized content and registration of parties)
  • Graphics card with 128 MB with support for Pixel Shader 2.0
  • Latest version of DirectX 9.0c

Incompatible Cards (non exhaustive list):

Radeon 9000 series, Radeon 9200 series (Radeon 9250 inclusive), GeForce4 MX420, GeForce4 MX440.

Note: For Windows computers equipped with integrated graphics chipsets, the game requires a GMA 3-series chipset or a set of integrated chips from Intel, a Pentium D 2.6 GHz or Core 2 Duo 1, 8 GHz or equivalent, 0.5 GB of additional RAM.


For Windows computers equipped with integrated graphics chipsets, the game requires a GMA 3-series chipset or a set of the latest integrated chips from Intel, a Pentium D 2.6 GHz or Core 2 Duo 1.8 GHz or equivalent, 0.5 GB of additional RAM.

Patch


To fix bugs, install the latest patch. It is available here.
