Thunderbird - Error message: Inbox full

Issue


I use Thunderbird with a pop mail account. Each time I want to read my new messages, Thunderbird displays an error message: "Inbox full".

Solution


This happens when Thunderbird is no longer able to compact your mail folders. The solution is to:
- Move all mails from inbox to another folder (
- Try to compact the inbox
- Close thunderbird

Summary:
- Go to the directory in which your inbox is located
- If the Inbox file is too large, delete this file (make a backup copy of this file)
- Restart thunderbird
- The inbox file will be re-created and you shall be able to view your new mails.
