Myth - OpenOffice.org is written in Java

March 2017

Myth

The OpenOffice.org office suite is written in Java.
That is why it is slow.

Reality

FALSE.

Explanations

OpenOffice.org is written in C ++.

Not convinced?
Then completely remove Java (JRE/JVM/JDK) from your computer and run OpenOffice: It works without problems.

The only reason OpenOffice.org needs java is to run Java applets and some plug-ins written in Java.
