Windows 8.1 - How to adjust the horizontal or vertical spacing of the icons

This page explains how to adjust the space between the desktop icons, on Windows 8.1:
  • Open the registry (Run > type "regedit").
  • Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\WindowMetrics.
  • In the right pane, search and edit the following entries:
    • IconSpacing
    • IconVerticalSpacing
  • The default value is 1125.
  • You can choose a value between 480 (min) and 2730 (max).
