iOS 8 - How to extend the battery life of your iPhone


In this article you will learn how to easily extend the battery life of your iOS 8 device.

Disable dynamic wallpapers

To disable dynamic (animated) wallpapers:
  • Go to Settings > Wallpaper.
  • Pick up a wallpaper from the "Stills" section.

Disable Background App Refresh

Some apps can automatically update their content in the background (without your knowledge). To disable this feature:
  • Go to Settings > General Settings > Background App Refresh.
  • You can either turn off "Background App Refresh" for all your apps or for selected ones only.

Optimize the screen time out settings

  • Go to Settings > Auto-Lock.
  • Set the auto-lock settings to 1 minute.

Disable the parallax effect

When you tilt your iPhone, you will notice that the icons seems floating on your homescreen. This visual effect is also known as the parallax effect. Disabling this feature will help in reducing the battery usage.
  • Go to Settings > General > Accessibility > Reduce Motion
  • Toggle the "Reduce Motion" switch off.

Reduce the brightness level

In some situations, dimming the screen of your iOS device may help in saving some battery life.
  • Go to Settings > Display & Brightness.
  • Turn off "Auto-Brightness" and manually adjust the brightness level of your device.

Disable location services

  • Go to Settings > Privacy > Location services.
  • The apps that can access to the GPS feature of your phone will be listed in this section.
  • You can either turn off "location services" for all your apps or for selected ones only.
