F-Droid - Free and open source appstore for your Android smartphone


F-Droid is an alternative appstore for Android which aims to distribute only free and Open Source apps! F-Droid takes the concept of software repositories found on most Linux distributions.
Features:
- The ability to manually add other software sources.
- Filter apps based on the characteristics of the device in use.
- Download and install older version of an application.
- Automatic installation of apps on rooted devices.

Prerequisites


Download and installation

On your smartphone or tablet:
  • Open your web-browser and go to https://f-droid.org/FDroid.apk.
  • Tap on the Download button.
  • Once downloaded, open the File Explorer > Downloads.
  • Double tap on FDroid.apk to install your new appstore!

How to install apps from F-Droid

To install an app:
  • Tap to select the app of your choice.
  • In the app presentation page, simply tap on the + button to start the installation:

To get the source code:
  • Tap on the menu button (app presentation page) > Source code.
