Old video games like Metal Gear Solid
can be run on new systems based on operating systems like Windows Vista. Generally users can install the game smoothly but face some errors while launching the game
, e.g. they might get a message that the game does not run in the hardware mode or they may even get a temporary black screen on the computer. To launch the Metal Gear Solid
game in Windows Vista one has to run the game in compatibility mode
option, and from there Windows should be set to 98 or 2000
You want to play some old games, such as Metal Gear Solid
on your new PC.
Installation went smoothly, but when you try to launch the game, you get an error message prompting you that you can't run the game in hardware mode, but only in software software. Your desktop will flicker (with a temporary black screen) and then everything is back to normal.
The game will not launch
- You need to run the game in compatibility mode.
- Right-click on the game shortcut (on desktop)
- Select Properties
- Compatibility mode Option
- Set it to Windows 98 or Windows 2000 and try again - it should work.
