September 2016

This guide explains how to fix the common issues that one may encounter with the Touch ID feature of your iPhone.

Touch ID Fails to Recognize Your Fingerprints

If your iPhone won’t recognize your fingerprints, but you still remember your passcode, you can delete the current fingerprints and register them again.

How To Delete Fingerprints on the iPhone

Go to Settings > Touch ID & Passcode and enter your passcode when prompted. Select the faulty fingerprint and then tap on Delete Fingerprint.

How To Enroll Fingerprints on the iPhone

You can use another finger or enroll the same finger multiple times to improve the accuracy of the Touch ID feature. For more information, please read our article on How To Enroll New Fingerprints with Touch ID.

Touch ID is Not Working and You Don’t Remember Your Passcode

If you no longer remember your passcode, you will be left with no choice but to restore your device to factory settings.
