This guide will teach you how to download Facebook videos to your computer without the need for any third-party software. This method will utilize Google Chrome's developer tools to find and extract media files from web pages.
How To Download Facebook Videos with Google Chrome
Open Google Chrome, sign in to your Facebook account and search for the video you want to download.
Once you have located the desired video, right-click on the playback screen and select Show video URL. Copy and paste the URL the video in a new tab.
Next, you will need to retrieve (copy) the video ID from the link. It is the sequence of numbers displayed at the end of the URL:
Once done, open a new browser tab and go to http://www.facebook.com/video/embed?video_id=your_video_id. Take care to replace your_video_id by the sequence of numbers retrieved from the URL of the original video. This manipulation will open the video in a new tab, without any other elements.
Open the Customize and control Google Chrome menu and go to More tools > Developer tools ([CTRL] + [Shift] + [I]). Go to the Network tab and click on the Play button to load the elements present in the page.
Search for an item having a Media type (in the Type column). Right-click on its corresponding entry > Open in a new tab:
The video will open in a new tab, right-click on the playback screen > Save video as:
Select a location to save the video file and click on Save.
