Finding new friends on Snapchat has never been so easy. The video messaging app is built with a couple of tools to help you grow your address book. This tutorial will teach you how to take advantage of these tools to easily add contacts to your Snapchat address book.
Open Snapchat, tap on the ghost icon displayed at the top of the camera screen, and select Add Friends:
Here, you will find all the options given to help you search for and add new friends:
Add Snapchat Friend by Username
If you already know the username (pseudo) of the desired contact, simply type his or her username into the Add by Username field, and then tap on the + button:
Snapchat will send a friend request to the user.
Add Snapchat Contact via Address Book
The Address Book option will enable Snapchat to search your phone's address book for people who are already using the app. Snapchat will also display your regular contacts; you can invite them to join Snapchat via text message.
Add Friend via Snapcode
You can also add friends by scanning their snapcodes with your smartphone. A snapcode works just like a QR code - you may add a contact by scanning his or her snapcode with your Snapchat camera or by using the Snapchat app to scan a photo containing a snapcode (received by email, instant messaging...).
To scan a photo with Snapchat, simply tap on + Add Friends > Add by Snapcode > Photos, and then browse for the desired photo in your photo gallery.
Add Nearby is a location-based feature that will enable you to add Snapchat users who are in the same area as you. Tap on + Add Friends > Add Nearby and Snapchat will search for users who have also enabled Add Nearby on their devices:
Once done, tap on the + button to send a friend request to the user.
