Hello, I can't open the cd-rom drive on my pc. I read the advise that there is a hole underneath the device and to put a pin or paperclip in the hole, but my hard drive doesn't have any holes. Any advise on how I can open it? Thank you!

Strange! Every CD or DVD drive I have ever seen has the hole for emergency removal. What you may have is a false front on the PC case that covers the real drive front. I have a Antec case with this type of decorative front and you can't get to the hole. My case has a larger door that swings down to allow the CD tray to pop out. You might be able to use your finger nail at the top of false door to open it. You might get access to the eject hole in this case. This false front also has a extra push button that activates the REAL eject button build into the drive. I could see this extra button breaking or jamming internally.

There is an alternate method for ejecting the CD that is software triggered. Right click the CD drive letter in "My Computer" and then left click on EJECT.

Good Luck

Hi, I received your response, but there is no hole near the cd rom drive. I think my pc is old. I checked my pc at work today, and that one does have a hole to insert a pin, but my home computer doesn't. There is a small button to push to open the cd drive, but there is no hole anywhere near it. Do you have any other suggestions on how I can open it? Let me know. Thank you. Bean

Thank you soooo much!!! I never did find a hole, but I went to My Computer and right clicked and chose eject and it came out! I'm just starting. I just got this pc this year - my first, so I'm not too good and trouble shooting yet. Thanks so much for your help! Bean

I didn't find the hole either, but the eight click worked like magic. Many thanks.
