Windows 7 - Disable the subpixel font smoothing feature

This small manipulation will enhance the performance of CRT screens, which don't support sub-pixel smoothing. This function is useful only on LCD screens.
Here's how to disable it:
  • Open the Start menu and type in "Appearance"
  • Select "Adjust the appearance and performance of Windows"
  • Uncheck "Smooth edges of Screen Fonts"
