Windows 7 - Unlock a file under Windows Seven

December 2016

On Windows 7 there can sometimes be files that cannot be bypassed. Hence, these files cannot be deleted. To delete these files, they should be unlocked. For this, the file's 'Property' option need to be accessed and then from General, the 'Unlock file ' option has to be selected. Once the file gets unlocked there will be no problem in deleting it from its location.

There are certain files that cannot deleted in Windows Seven as they are locked. You can bypass this issue, however, by unlocking the file:
  • Right click the file
  • Click Properties
  • Go to the "General" tab
  • Click on "Unlock file"
  • Click OK
  • Return to the location of the file and delete it
