Removing MyWebSearch

MyWebSearch is an Adware and is responsible for a toolbar bound to Internet Explorer that is considered harmful.

Disinfection Process

Preliminaries

If you have Vista or 7:
You must disable UAC during disinfection.

If you have TeaTimer (Spybot resident), disable it otherwise it may impede the disinfection:
  • Start Spybot, click Mode, select Advanced Mode.
  • On the left, click Tools, then Resident.
  • Uncheck the box to Resident "TeaTimer" then exit Spybot.

Manually Uninstall

Like any other programmes, it's possible to uninstall the tool bar:
  • For Windows Vista/Seven : Go to the Control Panel then Programs and Features and uninstall MyWebSearch.
  • On Windows XP : Go to the Control Panel then Add/Remove Programs and uninstall MyWebSearch


Next in Firefox, check to see if MyWebSearch is not an Add-on : Menu tool then Add-ons and delete the extension
Eventually change the search engine from the search bar top right.

Lauch the tool and click on the scan button which will give you access to the Clean button. A report will be generated.

  • Install the program,
  • Make updates (click Updates then Search for updates).
  • Launch MalwareByte's Anti-Malware, click "Run a full review" and then select Search all disks.
  • Once the scan is complete, click "Remove" (if you are asked to reboot the PC, accept).

Conclusion

Beware of what you install on your computer so you don't install adware, get popups and get flooded with advertising.

When ever possible, read the conditions of use before installing to insure the software does not contain any adware.
