Flashing is a sign that there is a hardware problem.
If you are comfortable with opening up the laptop (it is broken already), open it up, and remove the ram. Try to boot, if it has a different display indication, then the RAM may be bad. Put in one stick, and try again. If nothing changes with the RAM removed, then the Mother board is bad, and you will need to get a new laptop!
