YouTube requires Adobe Flash to play videos. If this plugin is out of date, YouTube will be unable to play correctly. Try updating to the latest version of Flash by visiting Mozilla's Plugin.
It is possible other plugins have become corrupted, affecting YouTube playback. It is best to update all plugins. If this doesn't fix the problem, disable each plugin one at a time and retest YouTube.
