Headphones cut off sound after a while when plugged into laptop.

Hello, my windows 10 laptop does this weird thing when after a good hour or so of using my headphones the audio completely cuts off from the headphones. I tried to update the drivers but it says everything is already updated. However, when I go into hardware and sound, the "headphones" option doesn't come up either when my headphones are plugged in or not. My computer is updated and I tried multiple headphones so I'm pretty sure the error has got to do with the laptop itself or the drivers. Could someone please help?
