Hi,

I have a Windows live email account, originally hotmail. One of my contacts regularly forwards me messages containing photo attachments but the messages come through without any visible attachments. However, if I go to forward the message, the attachments then appear as part of the email and I can download them that way.

The photos are not "inline" as part of the body of the message but actual attachments.

When he forwards the exact same messages to my gmail account, there is no problem.

Does anyone know what the issue could be?

Thanks

Well, it seems the folder configuration are set to not display the images inline.

Click the File > Options.
Click Trust Center.
Click the Trust Center Settings button.
Uncheck the box next to the "Don't download pictures automatically in HTML e-mail messages or RSS items" option.

Thanks for the reply, but I am not finding a trust center anywhere. I am using Chrome on a PC.

OK, my bad.

Log into your account, and go to settings, options. See if there is a DISPLAY images setting.

Try this:
Tools | Safety Options | Security. Uncheck: "Block images.........." so the graphics will always show.

Well, hopefully you understand what I am trying to say, regardless if the menu path is correct. There are only so many ways to control settings like this, and settings would be where it is at. Sorry, but I am not prepared to create an account to see the settings behind it.

I know what you are saying. I am just not finding any setting having to do with displaying images, and this does not happen all the time. I receive messages with photo attachments all the time and have no problem but when this one particular person sends me photos they aren't there. If he sends the same message to my gmail, the photos are there.

Yes, it is strange with no logical explanation. Thanks for trying though.
