Control key turns on caps lock and doesn't work

Hello,
please help me, I'm using windows 7 on a Toshiba laptop. the control key turns the caps lock on and it doesn't function at all.. either with arrows up, down, left, right, or other keys like 'C' 'V'..and the rest as it should.. I dunno what I pressed but it's really giving me a difficult time. kindly help me

Does the problem persist if you plug in an external monitor?

I havent tried that yet,, I can't access an extra monitor easily from where I am.. Is there another way out?

Haven't tried that either.. But I will then let you know as soon as I do.
