Microsoft Surface 3 Pro windows update stucked 7%

The Surface was doing a Windows update. it never made it pass 7% of its update. The wife and I went to bed woke the next morning to the same screen saying 7% of its updated. Powered down and waited for a minute, turned back on for it to attempt to try again to update. For it to get stuck again at 7%.
Don't want to have to loose all of or any files.
Any help is good help.

If it is doing windows 10 updates, then leave it alone. One update took me about 3 days of sitting!
