External HDD not showing up in My Computer FIX

Hello, i found an simple yet not very talked about problem that i had with my HDD. so i tried to install windows on HDD, it failed obviously, and after that i connected my HDD to my laptop, and whoosh! it didn't exist anymore. so i googled and asked and binged for answers, prayed and cried, and stumbled upon a treasure. so the disk showed up in device management, but not in my computer. ran CHKDSK, reformated it and did alot of stuff, what really wasnt neccesary. (lost alot of important data to it) so , without a further adue, the fix :

using windows 10 , i typed into windows search create and format hard disk partitions :



then i saw my HDD, and saw, that my main drive, C , has a letter name, but my HDD doesnt. so i was curious if maybe ...



added a drive letter F and boom , there it was, back in my computer and ready for filling . i hope some of you may find it useful, because i went through alot of pain, to have this little intelligence gain :)
