USB Files wont open folder is empty

Hello,
I plug my card reader into the laptop or a usb cable to upload photographs from my camera and the file comes up eg SAMSUNG or NIKON to open but then when i open it, nothing is in the file at all even though there are loads of photos on the memory cards. Please can you help? i have recently cleaned the laptop up and thinking maybe ive deleted a driver or something!!

its probably the drivers

thanks for your response, i have downloaded the samsung driver and tried but this is coming up when i try to open the file...ixdb DAT file 1kb
It wont allow me to go any further than this, do you know what would be causing this to happen??
