I bought my Laptop (Compacq Presario V3000) four years back. It has got dual layer DVD writer and reader. I have written many DVDs like that. But slowly from one year onwards it was not reading some scratched Discs. Later, when I insert any DVD it is shows as either empty disc or CD. The final stage is that it is not recognizing any thing at all. Another Peculiarity is that it is reading any CD, and Company dual layer DVD but not the DVDs which are played normally on any other notebook PC or Desktop. I asked the hardware engineer about this and he told me that nothing can be done to this and the whole device has to be replaced. Now what can I do?
