I had the SAME PROBLEM!! I TRIED EVERYTHING TO FIX IT....THIS IS THE ONLY THING THAT WORKED!

I checked many times to make sure all my "settings" were right....they were.
Then,
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling both java and all adobe software TWICE....I even disabled my internet security in case it was some ad-blocker problem...still, it would not work.

THIS WORKED...and although you probably think you already did this, TRY THESE LINKS....THEY HELPED ME.

The first one to go to to unisntall JUST THE FLASH PLAYER ONLY is:

https://www.adobe.com/?id=tn_14157

Then you have to reinstall the FLASH PLAYER by going to:

https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

This really did work. I was pleasantly surprised after spending an entire afternoon trying to find out why I couldn't play flash videos although my java was turned on and I had all the latest updates. Hope this helps you, too!!!

I have RCN and still have the same problem. I uninstalled the flash player, downloaded the latest and reinstalled twice, still no luck. Seems like this is a common problem as of late. I wonder if it's a problem with the latest version.

IT a lot of cases this problem is due to having ad blocking set to ON in your anti virus software. turning it to OFF will fix the problem. Hope this helps

Thanks soooooo much! This solved my problem that i've been plagued with for the last year or so!~!!!!!! I just had to uninstall adblock.
Tools> Add ons. And then I just chose uninstall in the new popup window next to adblock.
Thanks again. I can finally listen to music on myspace now!

Go to the 'Safari' pulldown (upper left corner) and hit 'reset Safari.' It's that simple, if you have learned how!

I'm using firefox... and flash won't work in IE either, and when I play GTA IV, the initial screen that comes up requires flash 9 or above, but doesn't work. However, if I go to most websites, flash games tend to work. I've uninstalled and reinstalled with no success, same issues.

what exactly is "safari"?

Very simple fix,
Just open up C:\WINDOWS\system32\macromed\flash
From there run FlashUtil10b
Or FlashUtil9b , depends on the flash version you have.

Hope that helps you it certainly fixed my same problem
Good luck Camm

I signed in to give a heads up on this issue. I tried all the solutions posted here and none worked for me. I came across a very simple solution on one on the sites and it worked immediately.
Please follow the steps to check the add-ons
1. Go to TOOLS on Internet Explorer.
2. MANAGE ADD-ONS
3. Under Adobe System Incorprated, check the status of "Shockwave Flash Object"
4. If disabled, click on it and enable it and Voila!

yes you computer may be at risk because of not updating such viruse pertaction and system update.or you download a file from ontenet that its blocking the adbeflashplayer.

Ive been having this problem for ages and randomly came accross this fix for me which worked perfectly and I hope it works for anyone else having this problem as its been a thorn in my side for ages!!!

Go onto any Youtube vidoe page where you get the 'hello, either you have javascript turned off or an old version of adobe's flash player. get the latest flash player.' message.
On the right side of your toolbar there is an drop down called 'Page', click on this and select 'Compatability View'

Then it started working immediately.

Hope this works for others too!
