How to increase my loptop download speed ?

Hello,
sir,we are using 384kbps speed of internet connection by ADSL(modam) TATA INDICOM connection,we are connecting via router,while downloading time my laptop get very slow download speed compare with my friends laptop
i am using new laptop(DELL Studio1555),my friend laptop (HP)
So pls Give some help for my problem,how to increase my laptop's download speed while connecting more than laptop,how can i get the more priority for my laptop download?

OS : Windows vista Home premiam..

Dear frand,

1st of all u need to compare ur lappi onfiguration wth ur friends lappi..........coz ram does also affect on downloading speed.

Other thing is try ur friend's TATA indicom connection in ur lappi and check still its slow or its working fine. ??

my laptop having 3 GB RAM and my friend laptop only having 1GB RAM compare that my lap Configuration is higher from them
while using alone me inna i can get full download speed,but while me and my friend using wireless router inna at a time 80% of speed is get his lap only, i can get only 20% of speed
how this rectify this problem
