to connect laptop with pcClosed

Hello,

i have dell laptop in which i installed vista business edition and i have another desktop pc in which windows xp is installed. Now i want to connect laptop and desktop so please kindly help with this.

step by step will be very much helpful to me, as i am not that much tech savvy so.

thank u so much for replying. BUT what are the steps to configure in vista and xp. And where in network settings .
where we need to enter this IP adress . If u dont mind can you please send me the detailed steps for vista business edition and windows xp.

Hello there,

You will have to use a switch or your router to share the connection among the 2 computers,

Connect the the computers using RJ45 cables to the router 

Or if you have a switch connect the switch to the router and the 2 computers to switch

Then you will be able to do a LAN network at your place

hi there,


you need to have a cross cable connection

You will need to give both computers an address on the same network in

order to get them communicating, eg:

computer 1
-ip address = 192.168.1.1
-subnet mask = 255.255.255.0

computer 2
-ip address = 192.168.1.2
-subnet mask = 255.255.255.0

Thanks for replying   BUT my friends has connected two computers using ethernet cable and they are working fine . They used crossed ethernet cable
