Connecting an external monitor to my AcerSolved/Closed

Hello,

I have an Acer Aspire One Netbook and I want to connect my HP w220H2 monitor to it. How do I do that?

Connect the monitor to the

 laptop's 15-pin video connection on the back of the computer 

Once connected, your laptop may automatically switch

 to the new external display or you may be required to press 

a sequence of keys in order to switch from the laptop to the external display

For example, often either Fn + F3, Fn + F5, Fn + F8, or Fn + F9 

is pressed to switch between alternate displays

I also have an Acer Aspire One Netbook Computer... I have an HP monitor also (HP 1940)... the way I connect it to the monitor is: 
-Plug the VGA cable to the monitor and the netbook (before turning the netbook on) 
-Turn on the netbook and the startup screens should appear 'till you get to the desktop
-Once in the desktop, right click on the desktop and the pop-out menu should appear with the following: Graphic options>Output to>Dual Display Clone or Extended Desktop (whichever you prefer)> then, Notebook + Monitor.
-That should do the trick, there are also other options, but it all depends on the desired output.
One more thing, if your output monitor does not support widescreen (the Acer Netbook is Widescreen) you are going to have to put the settings on the native resolution (800x600) on the netbook for the whole screen to be usable. (Right click on the desktop>properties>settings tab>screen resolution.)
The reason I was looking at this post was because I wanted to higher my screen resolution, but it looks as though I'm outta luck for now....I'll keep searching...

The computer uses hotkeys or key combinations to access most of the computer's controls like screen brightness and volume output. To use a hotkey to perform a specific function, press and hold down the Fn key, press the system key with the desired image on it, and then release both keys. To cancel the function, repeat the sequence.

 

For Aspire One models: AOA-150, AOD-110, AOD-150, AO531h:

Hotkey Icon Function Description 
Fn + F1  Hot key help Displays the hot key help file. 
Fn + F2  System Properties Launch System Properties. 
Fn + F3  Power Options Launch Power Options. 

 

For Aspire One models: AO751h:

Hotkey Icon Function Description 
Fn + F1  Power Options Launch Power Options. 
Fn + F2  System Properties Launch System Properties. 
Fn + F3  Bluetooth toggle Enables or disables the Bluetooth functionality, if equipped.
