Xp disk boot failure(Rec console: NO WINDOWS

Hello,

i have a win xp proffesional edition. after rebooting the pc, i got a DISK BOOT FAILURE message.

when i used the recovery console from win xp installation cd i see only c:\

The actual message is:

The path or file specified is not valid
C:\>

I knowi should be able to shoose the OS and then follow the steps. however, i dont get:

1. C:\WINDOWS

How can i solve this?

hi there,

try these few steps:

open casing

change the ide or sata data cable of the

hard drive

then reboot

from cd

if still same issue

then go to bios menu and reset it to default setting

save and exit

reboot from installation disk
