Firefox or IE would not let me download? (XP)

Hello, I have Windows XP as my computer.
And everytime i try download software or programs, it would ask me where to save and i would save it on my desktop, after that my download automatically cancels.. i dont know what happened, i never changed any settings or nothing.. so i reallyyy need you guys to help me out. I tried downloading Itunes many times but firefox keep cancelling my download...

And i tired IE, and it wouldnt work either. So any tips or advice would really help me!
I tried finding a solution but its all Vista and i dont have vista.

xx please help me
