Insert day, date and month in words

Hello,
I want my column to say eg Mon 4 Jan - don't need the year. I've got it to say Mon/04/01, which is ok, but I'd rather have the month in words. Don't mind about slashes or spaces. Any way to do it (bearing in mind I'm a very basic Excel user, only just managed to work out how to make it fill in the dates automatically in my column).

i want a php code to translate date into words. e.g. 15/05/1987 into fifteenth may nineteen eighty seven. please help me. reply
