Replacement wav files wont play

Hello,

A friend of mine replaced her default computer sounds with wav files from a game. I followed her instructions to the letter and replaced the windows defaults with these wav files. However, they wont play. I can play them on the desktop so I know they arent corrupted but they are not working as replacements. Can anyone help?

Im running with Vista.

of the wav files

Hey thanks for the reply! I put them in the same place that the working wav files are, but they are the only ones that wont make a peep when I choose them.
