No active mixer devices

Hello,
I recently reinstalled windowsXP home edition on to my Dell dimension4500 PC..i had sound before i reinstalled and now there is nothing, i fixed it once but have NO clue how i did it..PLEASE HELP!!!

Go to Start > Run and type in: services.msc , and hit enter.Scroll down to "Windows Audio", right-click on it and select Properties, set the startup type to Automatic, click Apply and then click the Start button.
