Laptop completely shut down

Hello,
sooo i was watching glee on my computer and the battery was running really low, so i went and plugged it to the charger and about three minutes later it completely shut off. I checked to see if it overheated and it wasn't hot at all. so then i thought i just ran the battery really low and so i left it plugged in for about 3 hours, and nothing. when i plug it in the light to show that it is charging doesn't even light up. its a very new laptop, and its a toshiba. I tried the take the battery out and take out main power supply and it didnt work. any suggestions?
