Hello, i'm on the page where people are worried with problems of downloading files, with Vista.

my problem is with a newly installed XP; i can't usually get the download files (using firefox browser, and not IE); often they show the progress bar to the end, then the file is zero KB. i can 'recycle' this download icon, and it will show the actual file size; if i try to execute it, i'll get a message warning that
i dont' have permissions (but i'm the administrator, and there are no other "users"!).
i wonder'd if the Windows firewall, or the fact i haven't activated this XP yet (i have 25 days left) could be the problem.
i have no trouble on the other partition of my HD (running W2K Pro) doing downloading.
so i've taken to downloading from another computer (a mac actually), putting file on a flash drive and bringing it into XP that way.

But the problem remains. I should be able to download anything with a firefox download, into XP.
can't figure out what the problem is here.
help.
voice over, thanks.

Dear Sir,

Try deactivating the firewalls and have the file

downloaded.

Thanks.
