Games Crash my computer when I Go to Run them

I installed the Sims 3 onto my computer, as well as Spore. I have Over 82 gb of memory left after downloading installing them, and had no problem doing so. But everytime I go to start the Sims game, (I put in the disk, and have tried using the desktop shortcut, autorun, you name it) My computer proceeds to freeze up, and then I have to restart it. With Spore, I put in the disk, try to run it, using the different methods like going to computer and clicking on the disk, autorun, shortcut, etc. and nothing happens. Like, Nothing at all.
Can anyone help me please?

RAM - 4.00 gb
Intel Pentium Dual processor T3200 2 ghz

I don't know what else to put here, I can add anything else if needed.
