No sound from headphones from my acer laptop

There is no sound from my acer laptops headphones. I faced the same problem but it was ok after putting system on standby. But now even thats not working. I am using windows xp. Please help

Dear Raman,

Please check whether you have your sound driver installed or whether it need to be updated in your Device Manager. Please confirm the matter for further help.

Drivrs are Ok. The problem still remains. I m getting the voice from inbuilt speakers but not from the headphones when plugged in.

Dear Sir,

Ity would then perhaps be a hardware problem coming from headphones jack. Please consider testing the headphone on another PC to see whether it works properly.
