Installed Windows XP, no sound driver.

Recently I got a virus that apparently corrupted Windows Vista. It wouldn't boot up at all. I installed Windows XP Pro and now I have no audio drivers. When I go to Sounds and Audio Devices in the control panel, it says no audio device, and in the audio tab, it says there's no playback device and I can't click it cause it's gray'd out. I've tried pretty much EVERYTHING, I've downloaded tons of drivers. I've installed the drivers, rebooted, everything. Please help.

some time virous can do this.we can;t get sound while we instiling new computer.however we try to get sound ,we have face this problem in our lab .your hdd or instalin cd is infected by virous . first try to instal sound driver if not susses re install operating system. thanks (roshan)

Reinstall the whole operating system?
