Mic works on everything except skype

Hello,

im having a problem with skype. ive checked the settings and everything but i cant get the mic working. i can use my mic on all other applications, no problem with mic with sound recording or voice recognition software. i was able to use skype about 2 days a go then it just stopped working. i can hear sounds from skype. but the mic meter is not moving at all. there seems to be no problem detected by skype, coz the mic icon is green, but its just not working. im using windows 7. is this a compatibility prob maybe? im not sure what the problem is. PLS HELP ME!
