Toshiba laptop will not turn on.

Hello,

My Toshiba laptop starts up when I press the power button, it checks the memory, the AC and battery lights come on, but the other light comes on momentarily and then fades. The fan just goes continously like its in sleep mode.

It will stay on continuously, and doesn't shut down until powered off.

I've googled the problem, and suggestions such as putting pressure on the space beside the LC card slot, putting it in the freezer, and taking out the battery and draining the power by holding down the power button have been offered, Ive tried all except the freezer one for obvious reasons.
