Hello,
I am using an assembled desktop with XP service pack -2, installed in it. Everything was going in smooth. suddenly I had some hardware problem with mother board and i got it repaired. Later the os started giving some problem with respect to audio. I thought of formatting it, using installation CD and it is not recognising the SATA hard disk.
I did the installation using the same XP CD one year back , and it worked . Now the same Installation CD is not recognising the SATA hard disk . So anybody can solve this ?

configuration
Windows XP / Internet Explorer 7.0
SEAGATE SATA Hard disk
Gigabyte Mother Board.
AMD SEMPRON Processor 2800+

Older versions of XP do not have drivers for the SATA controller used in the newer laptops. Perhaps XP with SP3 has those drivers. Please search the forum for more help. Try "slipstream" and SATA for your search.

Good Luck
