Hello,

I have a Windows XP computer. There are 8 USB ports in the computer, and I have a 10-port hub plugged into one of the 8 original ports. Absolutely none of the ports work. They used to work, even after I used the hub. Just recently they decided not to work. I did not install any software or make any system changes that could have affected the ports. If I plug something into any of the ports, nothing happens. Although, I do get power out of the ports. For example, my 10-port hub has a red light that comes on when it is plugged into the computer. That light is on even though the computer will not recognize anything plugged into it.

^^This is the system I am using now, but the system with the USB problem is a Windows XP Media Center.

is that all that can be done? I would much rather do something else.

try going into device manager and uninstall all the usb ports.
(remove the usb hub first)

then, reboot the pc. this will then reinstall the usb drivers for your system.

see if that helps
