Word 2003 document icons will not display

Hello,

Until yesterday all my Word docs had the usual icon -- blue border, white background, big blue "W" for Word. Now they have a generic icon, the thing you see before the real one comes up -- blue bar near top, white background, and a lot of colored dots.

I have tried everything I can think of -- system restore, re-installing Microsoft Office 2003 -- but the problem persists. Makes me nervous. The docs will come up in Word, for the moment, but I'd feel better if they had their correct icon. This is the first time in 15 years they haven't.

Could it be that I don't have enough space in the my Windows XP "icon cache"? Only solution I can find for that is to download some unknown file from a website page which claims to increase the space. Got to be a better way. Any analysis or solution?

Thanks for any advice!

Dear Sir,

Please consider carrying out a system restore on your computer to get the problem fixed.

Thank you.
