Windows live messenger in windows 7

Hello,
I have a problem with my msn.
I have windown 7 OS & used windows live messenger. I can see my parents, however, they can not see me. after that, I unistalled and re-installed windows live essential including msn. It has been installed, but once I tried to open it, it said there is a problem casue the msn stop working. any suggestion?
is it common problem of msn in windows 7?
