Hello,

I have an 80 gb classic that will not turn on. I noticed that in my truck the ipod had showed the battery needed to be plugged into a power source. When I plug the ipod into my computer it will not sync and the apple icon just flashes in black and white. I have tried all the resets while plugged in. once you unplug it the ipod goes non responsive.

The strange thing is that if I dock the ipod you can hardly see the menu and that the battery has a full charge. It will play and you works fine. The problem is once I take it off of the dock it is non responsive. Any ideas??

HI ...i hope thats works for u ....
-Connect the ipod via USB to your computer.
-Put the iPod into disk mode (push the select button and the play/pause button when the apple logo appers without the backlight for a few seconds untill it shows it is in disk mode.)
-Click on My Computer
-Right click the ipod driver
-Go down to Format...
-Select FAT32 (dont do a Quick Format)
-Then restore your ipod in itunes.
