Missing Desktop IconsSolved/Closed

Question

Hello, 

All my desktop icons have disappeared from my screen except the clock and calender.  The icons are also at the bottom.  I can hit start and see all my programs.  Can you help.  Thank you, Suzan

Configuration: Windows Vista / Internet Explorer 8.0

Right click on desktop, go to view, tick the "Show desktop icons" 
It's usually about this.
if it didn't work do it again and see if the tick has disappeared. if there wasn't a tick then it's a virus otherwise i dont know
