WiFi differences between laptops and mobiles

Hi,

I have this Sony Ericsson P1 mobile and I notice that in certain places where laptops can catch a wifi connection, this phone doesn't.
What is the difference between this two in hardware or why this lack of reception?

Hi. Your mobile's antenna is much weaker than that of a notebook.
But if you put your mobile down (ex. on the table) so that it doesn't move (but lays still),
the sign will be a bit better.
