Can you tell me what updates they were?

Can you boot in safe mode? Tapping f8 while it's booting?

If not from the black screen what happens if you press alt+ctrl+del ?

I will have to go online within a couple of minutes, but I will catch you at the end of the day. (8:36 AM here)

Hello,
Seems like your hard disk contains bad sectors. Do you have OS CD with you?
Also let me know if you have an external hard drive or a pen drive to backup all your important data.
Good Luck
