You inter http://192.168.1.1 in the address bar of your browser. That will get you talking to the router.

The routers I have configured have varied so let me explain in a little more detail. Apparently you know to enter the http://192.168.x.x in the URL address bar. Since 192.168.x.x is one of the private address ranges, I have never found a router address that did not start with 192.168. Now, after that the address can vary. I have found some routers that start with 2 in the third octet. That is, 192.168.2.1. As I mentioned before, my ATT router address is 192.168.1.254. So to find your router, start with 192.168. and for the third and forth octets, try different addresses (ie 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.254 or 2.1 etc). Now, the default address of a router could have been changed, and if you purchased a used router this may be the case. Further, the admin account could have been modified. So, if you do get to the set up page, and you find that you need an admin account or password, try the admin account name of 'admin' with a password of 'admin'. You may need to reset the modem for the defaults to work. There will be a small pin hole to push a pager clip, for example, several seconds to reset the router. After resetting the router, the defaults should work and normally the admin account is 'admin' with a password of 'admin' and normally the address is 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.2.1.
Hope this helps...

You have to enter the router IP into your internet browser. From here you can change all the settings for your router. This IP may well be 192.168.1.1 for you, but the fact is it is different for everyone. However, it is certain that it starts with 192.168 . For example I have a belkin router and mine is 192.168.2.3

Just in case...the ATT wireless router address is 192.168.1.254. The prior post is correct in that the first two octets will be 192.168... enter: http://192.168.1.254. Generally if you just enter the numbers the prefix will be automatically added. Windows 7 should not be an issue...

Sorry, I am not sure whether or not you were asking me a question. If you were asking where to type in the IP address (any IP address), type it in the URL address bar where the http://xxxxx normally is inserted. Do not add the http:// for any local IP address.
