Vga pc to hd tv

Hello,

I want to connect my laptop to my hd tv.
I have been told that an hdmi cable is the most straight forward connection but my laptop only has a vga connector. Can I use a vga/hdmi cable which will support the picture and the audio or do I need a separate audio cable as well?

the VGA cable/port does not carry an audio signal. Hence, you need a separate audio cable.
